Squarespace x Sesame Street

On the occasion of Sesame Street’s 50th Anniversary, Squarespace is proud to partner with Sesame Workshop, the non-profit educational organization, to bring to life our first-ever holiday campaign starring everyone’s favorite Grouch -- Oscar. Our mission at Squarespace is to empower anyone with a creative idea to succeed, and as a fellow New York City-based company, we share in Sesame Workshop’s commitment to supporting creativity, imagination, and self-expression for all generations.

The centerpiece of the campaign is a short film titled A Cautionary Tale, which follows Oscar as he is reluctantly catapulted out of his trash can and into the spotlight as the toast of the New York art scene. Check out Oscar’s collections on OscarTrashArt.com hosted by Squarespace.

In the spot, Oscar’s trash becomes another New Yorker’s treasure, when he meets a new friend named Evie. She brings a different point of view, seeing the trash he has collected as art. Evie builds Oscar a Squarespace website to showcase his trash collections to the world, and from there, his unlikely, and unwelcome, adventure to becoming an artist begins.

Starting today, November 25, 2019, we invite you to visit OscarTrashArt.com to view Oscar’s collections and learn more about his journey to accidentally becoming a celebrated artist. You can also purchase limited edition art capsules inspired by Oscar's unlikely rise in the world of art. These capsules were created in collaboration with Squarespace customer and New York City Garbage Artist Justin Gignac and are comprised of materials found on Sesame Street. A perfect holiday gift, only 25 capsules have been created and all are numbered and signed by Oscar the Grouch. All proceeds will benefit Sesame Workshop to support their mission of helping children everywhere grow smarter, stronger, and kinder. The art capsules will be available for purchase here beginning today.

And with that, scram!
