Today we’re announcing free custom domains for all annual and bi-annual subscriptions. The addition of free domain registration means you’ll be able to set up your Squarespace site, under your own brand, within minutes. 

Free With Annual Purchase

If you purchase an annual or bi-annual account, we’ll give you one domain name for free. Choose the domain you want (availability includes .com, .net, .org, .biz, and .info), and it’s yours to keep. Each domain includes private WHOIS registration at no additional charge.

Zero Configuration

Our new Custom Domains interface makes domain selection and mapping a breeze. Never change a CNAME or A Record within a third-party registrar again. Just choose the domain you want, and we’ll take care of the rest. 

Google Apps Integration

Want a free email address to go with your new domain? You got it. We’ve integrated Google Apps so that you can set up your mailbox with your new custom domain right away. No more MX records, no more hassle.

Simplified Plans and Pricing

Today, Squarespace is pleased to announce new service plans and across-the-board price reductions which we are making immediately available to all customers.

In an ongoing effort to simplify our service, Squarespace now has only two service plans. We’ve also doubled discounts for annual purchases to 20%.

• Our new Standard plan, beginning at just $8/month (with annual purchase), is appropriate for personal blogs and small websites, and allows you to use a custom domain.
• Our new Unlimited plan, beginning at $16/month (with annual purchase), is perfect for business and personal sites of any size, and includes absolutely everything our powerful platform has to offer, including unlimited storage and bandwidth.

Switching to one of our new plans is easy. Simply go to your Website Manager > Billing & Support > Account Center, and select the plan that best suits your needs. Please note that existing coupon codes won’t work with the new plans. Of course, if you are happy with your current plan, you don’t need to do anything and can keep any previously offered rate.

Slideshow 2.0

Our popular slideshow feature has just been updated to version 2.0. Now when you add a slideshow to your site you'll find new settings to choose from, more customization options, and advanced functionality.

New Style Options

Slide indicators (dots, pagination, or textual) and new options to configure the placement of slideshow controls give you the style you want. To customize the look and feel of your slideshow further, jump into Fonts, Colors & Sizes, where you can modify background images for controls, style descriptions, and more. 

Placement and Size

Slideshow 2.0 allows for repositioning of navigation and any titles or descriptions you add to your slides. You can also customize the width of the slideshow, or just set it to auto-fill the width of the content area.

Gallery Settings

We've improved the link between the slideshow and the originating galleries by enabling an automatic gallery sync. That means when you add new images to a gallery or change a single image, your slideshow will reflect those changes immediately. We've also increased the slide limit to 100 images per slideshow.

Advanced

By popular request, the new "Advanced" panel allows you to link individual slides to specific click-through URLs of your choosing. You can also set slide-specific titles, add HTML to the slide's description area, and reorder the slides without changing anything in the original gallery itself.

The Great Style Revival

Over the past several months we've made a tremendous effort to continually improve the Squarespace experience. We've released beautiful new templates, expanded our help system, and built in powerful features like slideshows that you've always wanted. Today, we're thrilled to push that effort even further and offer a colossal update to all areas related to templates in Squarespace.

13 TEMPLATE REDESIGNS, 85 NEW STYLES, 2 BRAND-NEW TEMPLATES

Our templates have served us well over the years, but the time has come to reinterpret the Squarespace classics and improve our entire collection.  In this release, we redesigned every template in the system, top to bottom. We explored everything — color, fonts, button styles, key art, and the overall proportion — to ready our templates for an evolving web and far beyond.  In addition to the 13 template redesigns with 85 new styles, 2 brand-new templates (Principle and Transfigure) are included in this update.  

GOOGLE WEB FONTS – ALL OF THEM

You asked for Google's complete web font library, and here it is. Over 300 fonts are now fully integrated within Squarespace, giving you an unprecedented selection of fonts to choose from. There’s nothing for you to install, no Javascript to add, no CSS to write. Everything is available within the Fonts, Colors & Sizes menu. It's like magic.

DEVELOPER-FRIENDLY CSS EDITOR 

As web designers and developers, we know how limiting it could be to write and edit CSS within a small window. Now you can do it all within our beautiful new editor; pop out the entire window and see everything at once. The new editing toolbar allows you to find & replace, undo & redo (even post-save), insert style variables, and format your code like a pro. 3 new color themes are also available for easy-on-the-eyes editing.

• Add style to your blog post elements with 8 new icon sets, available in both black and white and 4 different sizes. 
• Keep the background image but change the color thanks to alpha-transparent PNGs available in many of the redesigned templates.
• Customize buttons in the new styles, like “search” and “submit”, right within Fonts, Colors & Sizes.

Introducing Squarespace for Android

Our family of handmade mobile apps has just gotten a little larger. We're thrilled to introduce Squarespace for Android, which brings all the mobile benefits our iPhone and iPad customers have been enjoying to those on Android devices. The new Squarespace for Android is available for immediate download. 

Just like our other mobile apps, Squarespace for Android has a custom interface and delivers all the functionality our customers need to manage their Squarespace sites on-the-go. The main features include:

• Posting - Quickly create new blog posts. All of your current tags and categories will be there. You can also post photos to your site. Snap a picture right from the app, or add one from your library.
• Content Management - See all your blog posts right from the app. You can edit drafts, delete posts and preview posts with ease. 
• Comment Management - Approve new comments, reply back, or mark them as spam. You can also receive push notifications for new comments and those awaiting moderation.
• Multiple Account Management - Your "Accounts" setting allows you to manage content for multiple Squarespace sites. You can save a draft post for one site and then easily jump to another site to schedule a post for later in the day.
• Real-Time Statistics - You can now view your Squarespace site statistics right from the application's statistics tab.  Unique visits, page views, popular search terms, RSS subscribers and top referrers are all included.
• Live Site Preview - See your whole site in the flesh, not just single posts.
